Meet our teaching team here in 1D
We welcome Tiffany Pulley back to school. Ms. Pulley has a Masters of Education and we are fortunate to have a well educated and experienced teaching team. It has been a seemless transition from kindergarten to first because of the continuity of our staff.
As you look at the photos to the right, you will notice some things in the classroom look the same and some things look different. The first two photographs show our new "Group Time" rug. You will notice in the second photo that there are chairs with circles below them. In first grade we sit in chairs during our group time discussions. The circles below the chairs have your names on them so you know where to push your chair. The calendar is also new. The calendar job requires childen to set up and check the date on the magnetic calendar. The weather job asks children to view and report the weather forecast that includes the temperature, as well as, how the weather looks outside. The number of school days job asks you to count the first grade school days and add the number to our kindergarten days! We will still have our "Stay At School Cubbies" for our work. We also have a block area (but house is only for kindergarten). Instead of the house area, we have a quiet reading area for four people at a time. We have new science notebooks for first grade! We also have our math area (where you will find our old calendar). We will continue to have our one-person quiet spot. Our bathroom sign will ask children to write their names instead of finding it and hanging it. Our literacy and math shelves are there with our favorite games and we will add new games and books! Our Writing Workshop folders are awaiting new stories. We still have our "Word Wall" and our art center is ready for more creations.
